041. ILLUMINATION OF MEANS OF EGRESS. (7-1-97)
01. Scope: Every facility, building, structure, or portion thereof shall be provided with exit illumination as required by this section. Where there is a conflict between a general requirement and a specific requirement for an individual occupancy, the specific requirement shall be applicable. (7-1-97)

03. General Requirements: (7-1-97)
a. Illumination of means of egress shall be provided in accordance with this section for every facility, building, and structure. (7-1-97)
b. Exits shall be illuminated at any time that the facility, building, or structure is occupied with light having an intensity of not less than one (1) foot-candle at the floor/walking surface level. EXCEPTIONS: Within individual dwelling units, guest rooms, and sleeping rooms. In auditoriums, theaters, concert or opera halls, and similar assembly uses, the illumination at floor/walking level may be reduced during the performances to not less than zero point two (0.2)-foot-candle. Any required illumination shall be so
arranged that the failure of any single
lighting unit, such as the burning out of an
electric bulb, will not leave any area in
