Energy Code Information

  Current Events

Idaho is setting its sites on the 2006 International family of building codes, including the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). Since the beginning of energy code adoption, Idaho residents have enjoyed more comfortable living conditions and reduced heating and cooling costs in their newly constructed homes.

With each cycle of proposed code changes, the International Code Council listens to testimonies from the building industries. Updated code versions incorporate the latest accepted technology in safety, advances in building components, construction methods and efficiencies. The 2006 IECC is expected to be more effective than its predecessors, and will be the minimum standard for efficient building design.
