Energy CodeNotice of 2006 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) adoption and enforcement. The State of Idaho and Division of Building Safety (DBS) has adopted the 2006 edition of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) as a minimum conservation requirement for residential and commercial buildings effective January 1, 2008. This requires all building projects submitted to the DBS for energy plan review to verify compliance to the 2006 energy code using the latest version of COMcheck for commercial projects, REScheck for residential projects, or through the use of an approved alternative method. Energy code compliance software is free and available from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) website at www.energycodes.gov or from the hotlinks below. All Idaho jurisdictions, which adopt and enforce building codes, must adopt the 2006 edition of the International Building Codes in accordance with sec.39-4116 Idaho code. Energy code compliance for adopting Idaho jurisdictions can be verified via the same compliance software or by using the simplified prescriptive approach in Chapter 11 of the 2006 International Residential Code (IRC). Energy code compliance software, prescriptive forms and technical assistance are available from the DBS energy section. Downloads to REScheck - Software for Residential Applications.
