What codes are used in Idaho and where do I get them?

Buildings owned or occupied by the state & public schools are required to be in compliance with:

  1. The 2006 International building code and appendices thereto pertaining to building accessibility, not including the adoption of the incorporated electrical codes, plumbing codes, International Mechanical Code; International Fuel Gas Code, fire codes or property maintenance codes other than specifically referenced subjects or sections of the International Fire Code, but including the incorporated International Residential Code; International Energy Conservation Code;
  2. The 2006 International Residential Code as published by the International Code Council, except for parts VII and VIII as they pertain to plumbing and electrical requirements; 
  3. The 2006 International Energy Conservation Code as published by the International Code Council;

City and County Building Codes are adopted locally by ordinance. Please contact the city or county where the project is located. If the city or county has a code the minimum is listed in 39-4116, Idaho Code.
